You are being pulled over by the Melanoma Police. Where is your sunscreen? Where is your protective clothing? Where’s your hat baldy? What do you mean your children are playing on the beach unprotected? Why not give them a pack of cigarettes and let them play in the freeway?
Wouldn’t it be great if there was such a thing, if you could get a ticket for being outside without sunscreen? I think so! I also think the fine should double if you don’t put sunscreen on your children! Why do I think this, well as my best friend was in the hospital going through another grueling cancer treatment for melanoma, I asked her “is there something that I can do?” Her response, “yeah, you can get me some sunscreen 20 years ago!” She was pissed! She was in pain! She was suffering! And who can blame her? She was dying!
Melanoma is deadly. I never realized this. I thought you could just go to the doctor and they would say “Gee what a funny mole, lets remove it and then you can go play in the sun again.” Not so much. That funny mole is just the beginning, it then seeps into your system and can affect your entire body. My friend Erica had 2 moles removed but it was too late, it was already in her lymph system and spreading to her lungs, her liver and her brain. And it all could have been prevented!
So with summer quickly approaching don’t be stupid, get some sunscreen and put it on, especially your kids, it’s a good habit to start now because unless you are skinless, you are at risk just like me and Erica and everyone else who has skin.
I will let you go with a warning at this time but don’t let me catch you again unprotected!
